Preparation for Game Presentation

Well to start off, Zach and I put together a little rough draft, on paper, of what our presentation will look like. We are actually working on that at this point in time. We have found a bit of information on the importance of recycling itself, so we can add it in our presentation at the end. The only thing left for us to do, as preparation, would be motivation. We have been lacking a bit of motivation for our game, and I honestly think it's just because the school year is almost over. We will get it all together though, and the presentation will be superb.

Most Recent Natural Disasters or the year 2010

It is said that the death toll of 2010 is already above normal. All such disasters have completely devistating to everyone. The Mine Explosion, here in West Virginia was awful. Not only did we lose so many of our miners, but even some of our family members. It's always hard to lose someone & eventually let them go. You just have to believe that everything really happens for a reason. God does have a plan.

The many other natural disasters that took place in our world today, have increased, just in the beginning part of our new year. Earthquakes in many different parts of the world. Along with volcanoes, tsunamis & floods. The tragic disaster that happened in Haiti, is still a very big part of the whole world, honestly. Some celebrities, the president, and even donations from different schools all over have been sent to all of the suffering victims of Haiti.

My all-and-all outlook over all these horrible disasters, is somewhat scary. I mean you think about it, what would we do, if some of these things happened to us, other than the fact that we lost so many loved one because of the mine explosion.

The most interesting part about animation, in my opinion, would be getting to see my drawings, come to life, pretty much. There is a numerous amount of drawings in our game. Every object in our game has been drawn on the computer. I love being creative, and working on the animation of this game has been amazing. I can't wait to finish this game, only because of all the stress it is putting me through.

Adding Navigation!

Adding navigation to our game, in my opinion was fun. At first it was hard, but after watching the tutorial video probably 3 times, I understood it all. (: All itis, you are creating simple buttons for your game. Buttons like, the play, the about, and the back buttons. It also teaches you how to change the color of the buttons once clicked on.

Well, after reading the information on frames and keyframes in flash. It turns out that they are both different in some way. When working with keyframes, you play an animation, the playback head will move across the time line. As the head moves it'll intersect dots in the different layers, and those dots are called keyframes.

When you look at the timeline, you'll notice that one frame has a hollow circle in it and the frame has a white background. This indicates that the frame is a keyframe and has no graphic content associated with it on stage. A frame is a single frame inserted into a shot to provide an instant of different image.

So frames and keyframes are somewhat different from each other. It may be a bit difficult until I get the hang of it...

The importance of creating a Paper Prototype is to be sure you know your outline of the game. A Paper Prototype is sort of like a rouch draft that you do in English class. You are simply preparing for your final copy of the game. You go through each step and scene directly, and make sure everything seems to be in order and secure. During this time, I am putting my game together. I can't wait to finalize it, and make it pretty. (:

.
I finally finished my Mini Game Project. This Mini Game was so difficult. It took me so long to actually finish it and get the hang of it all. There are just so many steps that I had to follow in order for it to all be completed. The worst part was when I was trying to get my bunny to move up and down. That one little step took me forever, it felt like, to get it to move. I never imagined this simple little game to be so difficult to accomplish. I was pretty excited when I found out I was going to be making a Mini-Game, then once I started, I wasn't so excited. I began to get frustrated when something didn't go my way. Although it was very stressful, the outcome was all worth it. I am very pleased with my finished Mini-Game.
In my free time, I might play a couple of games, here and there. I'm not addicted to any games, right now anyway, but I'll play just about any time of game. I love any of the Guitar Hero games. Along with the Rockband games, Call of Duty games, and also the Grand Theft Auto games. I am pretty good at them all as well. Sometimes I'll go through a little spell of wanting to play some of these games all the time, but I haven't been able to lately because of work and school and such. I do enjoy playing games, when I actually have time

Today, we were assigned an assignment to do a blog review. I decided to do mine on Paul Foster. As I was reading his blog entry's from the past couple of days, they just caught my eye for some reason. It seems to me that he has blogged plenty of times in the past. His blogging is very neat, well-spoken, and adequate. Paul is very good at this whole blogging thing, and will do well with anything in the future. Great job Paul! (:

- Everyone should read and comment my blog entry's. (:

- && the picture is for doing such a great job, ahaa. 2 thumbs up!!

Today I chose a topic for my game. I was pondering of a few great topics, but the one that really sunk in was on health issues. I think you could present a very good, fun, and eye catching game on health issues. There are many different ways we could illustrate a game about health issues. We could try a multiple of other topics, no matter how difficult it may be. I always love a good challenge.

Although I played a numerous amount of games in fourth block today, only a couple really caught my attention. I think my favorite game of the many that I played would have to be "Stop Disasters." In this game, you simply choose between five different disasters. There are options of a tsunami, a wildfire, a flood, a hurricane, and an earthquake. The object of this game is to protect as many people, buildings, and livelihoods as you can from any of these horrible disasters. The objectives pop up and give you a certain amount of people to house. After that you just try your best to house and/or save as many people as you possibly can with the momeny that you have to spend. Once you have housed that listed number of people, you then get to watch the disaster happen. After the disaster is over, a newspaper article pops up and lets you know how you did, or how many people you may have saved.

A second favorite game that I played, was called "3rd World Farmer." This game asked for you to help out a family living on a low budget. You are rewarded a certain amount of money, and you have to buy, grow, and sale crops, in order for you and your family to live. You can choose from chickens, pigs, cattle, and elephants. As well as corn, wheat, cotton, and peanuts. You may also choose to buy different types of equipment to help with the harvesting of the crops. If you can afford the extras, such as clinics, schools, crop insurance, etc., those things may help as well. Me, personally, didn't last very long because I couldn't afford to go to a clinic if my family was ill, or even afford crop insurance. These two games really caught my attention during my fourth block today. I enjoyed them, and cannot wait to finally make my very own game.

Okay. Internet safety is very important. You should always keep any personal information to yourself. If you are talking or flirting with strangers online it will cause major consequences. You should always think about how different sites work before deciding to join a site. These two websites show a lot of information on how to access new websites with safety and precautions. Just remember to always visit websites with safety.

January 29,2010

Hi there (: I didn't get to post a blog yesterday because I didn't come to school. I was sick with a sinus infection. As of today, I got up around 6 a.m. I then arrived at school at about 7:15 a.m. I've been here at Riverside since then. I must add, I am feeling a little better today. (: For later, I am going to the boy's basketball game, that starts at 7:30 p.m. Then I'm staying with some friends. So I will be back next week to continue blogging.(:
